Image processing apparatus and method for controlling same

Abstract

PURPOSE: An image processing device and a control method are provided to detect a representative outline direction by using a block unit and detect a feature related to an outline of a subject. CONSTITUTION: A system control unit classifies an 8x8 block corresponding to an outline feature based on the sum value of an outline signal which is obtained from an input image and detects a representative outline direction for each block(S611). When a processing object block is an outline block, the system control unit calculates an outline direction connection map of an outline of a specific direction and increase a counter of a representative outline direction of the processing object block(S613-S615). The system control unit determines kinds of a subject based at least one of directional frequency distribution of the representative outline direction, the sum value of the outline direction connection map, and the number of representative outline directions(S616). 화상처리장치의 생성부는, 특정의 피사체를 포함한 화상의 윤곽신호를 생성한다. 검출부는, 상기 화상의 복수의 분할 영역 각각에 대해서, 상기 윤곽신호에 의거하여 대표 윤곽방향을 검출하고, 상기 검출부는, 상기 분할 영역에 포함된 윤곽부분 전체의 방향이 특정 정도이상으로 특정 방향으로 치우쳐 있는 경우에, 특정 방향을 상기 대표 윤곽방향으로서 검출한다. 판정부는 상기 검출된 대표 윤곽방향의 방향 기반 도수분포, 검출된 대표 윤곽방향의 수 등 중 적어도 하나에 근거하여, 상기 피사체의 종류를 판정한다. 보정부는, 상기 피사체의 종류에 대응한 보정방법에 따라 화상 데이터를 보정한다.
